My Story

Thirty years ago my best friend introduced me to fiddle music. I immediately brokered a deal in which he would teach me how to play the fiddle and I would help him build his house. While we worked, we dreamed of entering fiddle contests and one day making the pilgrimage to Weiser, Idaho, home of the National Old Time Fiddlers Contest, but a few years later I met my wife, and life happened. We bought a fixer-upper in the country, had three strapping boys, and too many other things to do that came between me and my jealous mistress, so I stopped playing the fiddle. Things came full circle when two of my boys wanted to learn an instrument. Being cash poor but fiddle rich, I introduced my boys to that bewitching box and they fell in love. That pivotal event was the beginning of our travels to fiddle contests, including the much-longed for pilgrimage to Weiser. Since then, our son has become a champion fiddle player, and my love for fiddles has deepened and morphed into fixing fiddles and helping to promote the music.
